The silkworm turns into a beautiful butterfly
We’ll make and paint butterflies as collages, with watercolors, or as mandalas with flowers
and leaves, and in the process learn how a caterpillar turns into a beautiful butterfly.
There are many secrets to discover along the way—for example, what’s hidden inside a caterpillar’s cocoon, or that
it can be used to make expensive fabric.
We’ll head out to the school garden to look for butterflies and the plants
that provide them with food and also help with pollination.
We’ll discuss which plants are important for butterflies, which butterflies are
native to our region, and what we can do to prevent their extinction.
